background music

i don't know if this is true of most people, but i tend to go through the day, every day, with some kind of music playing in the background - not always live music that other people can hear, but more often than not, sounds in my brain, usually recollected tunes that i have heard recently.

during the past week or so, most of the melodies in my brain have come from the MP3s from a playlist i made during my last few years in japan. i had the good fortune to cross paths with wonderful people during my time there, some of whom i feel became as important to me as the air i breathed.

i miss japan so much that it hurts.
