dust bunny devastation = catharsis

dust bunny, my unfortunate nemesis

i believe that nothing is as cathartic as cleaning one's own house. house-cleaning means taking control of a situation that i've let go of, and making it meet my standard of satisfaction. it means an hour or two of silent meditation in the roar of the vacuum -- examining things in my mind, throwing ideas out, and tucking memories away into nooks and crannies of the brain's convoluted lobes while i push aside chaos within the messy house. if i cannot have order and cleanliness inside, i must at least have them on the outside. wreaking devastation on the dust bunnies, i am winning this one battle, whereas i've been losing all the others. cleaning means dragging all the dirt and every broken item out into the open, and making all things clear and pure again (or tossing them out if beyond hope) -- a ritualistic act borne out of misery and helplessness with regards to the cluttered heart.
