six months

Hey everyone.. it's a quiet thursday night right now... although a gusty wind is pushing things around with a force rarely seen here. It reminds me of back home. Last night I spent around 200 bucks on a phone card to get a hold of a few of my friends and family, and well, phone cards are honestly expensive. The phone calls went by really quickly. I miss them so much and I hope they know that.

So.. yeah, still thinking about back home, still wondering what the air smells like and how cold it is in winter. Still trying to remember how it feels to walk through the windy bridge at the city or to look up at a huge expanse of crystal blue sky. Still trying to remember what a sunset looks like over the hills of home, and now I'm beginning to feel a bit melancholic. Still trying to remember a swath of stars. I haven't seen these things in months now, and I don't know if it's getting to me, or what.

I asked my friend early on how he dealt with missing home just after he came back. He told me, without even turning his head from his computer or even thinking about it, that it just becomes numb after awhile. I wonder if what he said is true for me now. Am I just becoming more homesick now or have I been really good at ignoring it the last few months and now have become un-numbed? Will the numbness return or will I just have this feeling for the next entire week? Wasn't it just last week that I felt ok again?
